08/03/18 - Tag Rugby
The Merdon Touch Rugby Squad played in the Winchester & Eastleigh Primary Schools’ Tournament this week, which consisted of 19 school from across our area. We played four games before being placed in to the bowl competition - only losing out on a place in the final by one try against a team that dropped down from the Cup competition. The whole squad played some fantastic rugby. They all had smiles of their faces, worked together as a team, communicated well, supported each other and showed real determination whether they won or lost. Mr Viney and Mrs Wotton are extremely proud of them all.
20/03/18 - Netball Match
This week the children were able to put their Netball skills to the test when Scantabout Primary were invited to Merdon to play High 5. With such a high number of children attending Netball club we were able to get together 3 teams, of all abilities, and I am pleased to say that Merdon won all 3 matches!
Mrs Buckley said 'The children organised themselves brilliantly and showed fantastic teamwork and respect to the opposition.'
Thank you to Mrs Buckley for her commitment in coaching the school's Netball club!

26/03/18 - Cross Country, Fair Oak School
A big well done to all those children who took part in the Cross Country event hosted by Fair Oak School. The distance was 0.9 Km and the pace was set quite high. The difficult ground conditions meant the children had to work twice as hard but showed real determination and came away feeling very proud of themselves.
A big thank you to parents for providing transport and cheers of encouragement. Without your support it would be difficult to have such a high attendance of children across the year groups.
27/03/18 - Girls' football tournament, Thornden School
Our year 5/6 girls' football squad took part in a tournament hosted by Thornden school. They played 5 matches against teams from other local schools and showed a huge improvement since the last tournament at Goals. The girls are starting to put into practice all the skills that they have learnt and are playing well as a team. They are understanding their roles within the game and how they can support each other and gain the most out of every opportunity. They also showed real determination and defended fantastically well against a very strong Otterbourne side (who went on to win the tournament). Well done to all the girls: Caitlin, Brooke, Carmel, Amy, Carly, Chelsee, Aaliyah, Chand, Evie and Jayla.
Merdon finished the tournament in 3rd position! Check out the results table below:
