Our Music Curriculum at school is led by the requirements of the National Curriculum and planned closely with the skills and progression provided by the Hampshire Music Service.
Every half term unit of work allows children the opportunities for listening and responding, whether through art, dance, verbal or written work. Each unit also ensures that the children get to explore different sounds and instruments, musical terminology and ultimately work together to create and perform a musical piece. Where possible, the units of work are linked to the topic to enrich learning.
In Year 4, the children receive weekly whole class tuition from a Hampshire Music Service teacher, through the Listen2Me programme. This fantastic service enables all children in Year 4 to learn the basics of playing 3 different instruments, ranging from African drums to violin to brass instruments!
We also have a fabulous choir and orchestra who perform at school concerts and other events. We offer instrumental tuition for woodwind, recorders, violin, keyboard, guitar and not forgetting a chance to play in a rock band!
