Studying Artefacts

This week the children were given a box of artefacts from an ancient civilisation. They studied them and using their inference skills and prior knowledge they predicted what each item was. Working as archaeologists the children sketched the items as they studied them.

This week, as well as completing the KS2 SATs tests, we have been using a variety of techniques to create Mayan Masks. We began by creating ‘no waste’ masks from a single piece of paper before investigating 3D shapes and creating the skeletons of the masks. Finally we used tissue paper to decoupage the colours of the masks.
