This week, we are learning about the experiences of refugees all over the world through stories, poems and websites. We are empathising with how they may feel, putting ourselves in their shoes through a series of activities.

We also completed some art activities based on sunflowers in support of Ukraine and all the refugees that are forced to flee due to the war happening there. First, Year 5 are producing observational drawings of sunflowers. This will support the careful and detailed painting of these flowers using acrylic paints. The individual paintings will be combined to make vases of sunflowers in the style of Van Gogh.

Finally we planted a sunflower seed each to take home and grow over the Summer. This will help us to keep our Ukrainian friends in our minds.
