Geography
During our Geography lessons we enjoy using an atlas to try an solve the 'Guess the Country' game on GLOBLE.
If you have an atlas at home, give it a try!
What is wonderful about our world?
For our hook, we made a poster to think about all the things that we thought are wonderful.
Next, we learnt about lots of different kinds of wonders in the world, what they looked like and where to find them.
7 Ancient wonders, 7 Natural wonders and the 7 new wonders.
This week we thought about our learning from Year 2. Do we still know...
- the countries that make up the Uk and their capital cities?
- where Southampton is on a map?
- the oceans and seas around the Uk?
We also reminded ourselves about the 7 Continents and the 5 Oceans. We used atlases and books to help us find out where they are and what we might find there.
We also used the words : Equator, Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere.
During our recall, we tried to draw and label a simple sketch map of the United Kingdom.
As part of our explore, we worked in groups to think about what we would find in each direction of the 4 point compass. We thought of something close, far away and something in between in each direction.
We made a double page with our ideas from our groups on the first page and we then used maps, atlases and books to find more information for our second go.
