Other Outdoor Learning
This half term our topic is Fantastic Beasts, so we decided to see what fantastic creatures we could find in our school grounds. We started off by trying to charm worms out of the ground! We used a range of methods including tapping the ground and pouring water onto it. We managed to find four worms! Did you know a worm has five hearts?
For our second outdoor lesson we continued our study of worms! We headed down to the allotment area to find some worms, it was much easier than trying to find them on the field. We then took our worms inside to observe them.
Worms have small hairs or bristles on their bodies. We placed the worms on paper and listened to them as they moved, we could hear a scratching sound. We also looked inside the worms by placing them on top of a torch.
To get to know our school grounds better we decided to sketch a landscape. We set off with iPads so we could photograph different locations, then we returned to class to sketch our favourite view using sketching pencils.
Following on from our sketching, this week we took our watercolours outside and tried painting different views around the playground area.
