Year 6 Badminton Tournament
On Wednesday 17th January a group of Year 6 children presented our school in a locally run Badminton tournament. The children played absolutely brilliantly and showed such wonderful, supportive behaviours for their fellow team mates. All games were played as doubles and lasted 5 minutes. Merdon came 2nd place in their pool!

Year 3 Basketball Festival
On Monday 22nd January, a group of Year 3 children were invited to Peter Symonds College to take part in a Basketball Festival, which was organised and run by the Sport Leader Students. The children took part in a number of skill-based activities before playing in 3v3 games. They played brilliantly as a team and won the majority of their matches.

Year 6 Girls Football Tournament
On Wednesday 24th January, the girls played a total of 3 competitive games and 1 friendly match. This was the first time the girls had played together as a team, and they did absolutely brilliantly. They bonded wonderfully as a team and it was amazing to see their support for one another. The girls came 3rd in their pool and won 1 of their competitive games.
Girls involved: Grace, Lola, Lauren, Ivy, Lottie, Kitty, Maisy, Iran, Evie.

Cross Country Competition
On Wednesday 7th February our children took part in the X-Country Championships at Places Leisure. They had to run an EXTREMELY muddy course and competed against lots of other runners from the Eastleigh and Winchester area. All children gave it their all and some have even qualified for the Hampshire Championships that will be held next year - watch this space!

Year 4 Gymnastics Festival
On Wednesday 24th April a group of Year 4 children took part in a range of gymnastics activities at Kings’ School. The children completed a circuit of activities, using a range of apparatus and equipment. The children particularly enjoyed jumping on the spring boards and creating shapes, as well as taking part in rhythmic gymnastics using ribbons and balls.

Year 6/5 Mixed Cricket Tournament
On the 21st May our mixed cricket squad played in a tournament at St Cross Cricket Club. Although it was a little chilly, our team played amazingly and made it through to the quarter finals. There was fantastic cricket skills demonstrated from each of our players and they all jelled brilliantly as a team, showing such support and encouragement for one another.

QUAD KIDS Athletic Festival
On Tuesday 25th June, a group of 8 Year 5 & 6 children competed in a number of athletic events at Kings’ School. The children took part in 4 events; 75m sprint, 600m distance run, standing long jump and vortex javelin. The children did absolutely brilliantly and gave it their all in every single event, resulting in some fantastic times and scores. The weather was a scorcher and the children were on fire!
