In guided reading, we have started the half term reading our new book; I was there...Boudica’s Army. We have looked closely at the first few pages to see what we can learn about Kassy and her family.
We have been reading the book ‘ The Promise’.
We made a role on the wall as we learnt more about the main character.
After learning about the girl’s dilemma, we thought about how we could give her some advice. We read a letter she might have written to an Agony Aunt and then planned and wrote our replies.
Next, we considered the question: How can we create a feeling of doom. After exploring vocabulary, practising writing similes and lines with fronted adverbials, we finally created lines for our Poems. We tried rearranging the order of the lines to see what worked the best.
After we edited and wrote our final drafts, we innovated and changed our poems to “create a feeling of hope”
We took our poems to Year 4 and shared them. The Year 4’s were a great audience and gave us some ideas to improve our work further.
