History
By the time children leave Merdon at the end of Key Stage 2, they will be curious to develop their historical knowledge, skills, vocabulary and understanding.
Pupils will gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past (including significant local events) and that of the wider world through research and critical analysis of historical sources whereby they will evaluate the reliability.
Throughout their time in Key Stage 2, children will develop an appreciation and context for their growing sense of identity and chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people. Children will understand that what they learn through history can influence their decisions about personal choices, attitudes and values.
Through finding out about how and why the world, our country, culture and local community have developed over time, our children will understand how the past influences the present by the time they leave Key Stage 2.
