PE
At the end of KS2 our children will understand the importance of daily physical activity and the positive impact that movement has on their physical and mental wellbeing. They will have experienced a wide range of physical activities and have the confidence to continue to engage in physical activity and school sport as they move into KS3 and beyond.
Children will demonstrate competence in running, jumping, throwing and catching skills and will confidently perform these in both isolation and in combination.
All our children will be given the opportunity to engage in competitive sports and activities, will understand the rules and how to compete in a positive way. They will enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other. They will learn how to evaluate and recognise their own success.
By the end of KS2, children will have developed their flexibility, strength and control when performing a range of movements.
Children will leave Merdon able to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres. They will be able to use a range of strokes effectively and perform self-rescue in different water-based situations.
