By the end of Key Stage 2 our children will develop a healthy knowledge, understanding and respect for a wide variety of religious and non-religious beliefs which form part of our school, local community and wider society.  

Throughout their time at Merdon, all our children will be given the opportunity to explore and value each other's faiths and views and have access to a variety of visitors and places of worship to increase their appreciation of diverse cultures. 

All our children will be curious and develop their enquiry and critical thinking skills about different attitudes, beliefs and religions. They will feel safe to voice their own opinions and have the confidence to respond to differing ideas about God, the self, morality and ways of leading their lives into Key Stage 3 and beyond. 

Children will leave Merdon with a growing sense of self-awareness and be given opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development. They will enjoy a sense of belonging and responsibility through valuing and building positive relationships with each other. They will be able to use these attributes to aid their well-being and help them to flourish as empathetic and compassionate individuals.
