Merdon Junior School is situated in an attractive residential area of Chandlers Ford, which lies between Southampton and Winchester. The children benefit from being able to play and learn in our extensive school grounds which is made up of a woodland area, two playgrounds and a large playing field.
Our school caters for KS2 children from the ages of 7 to 11. There are currently 260 children taught in 8 classes with 2 classes per year group. Each year group is named after a continent.
Year 3 -Europe
Year 4 - Africa
Year 5 - Asia
Year 6 - Americas
Most children join our school directly from Chandler's Ford Infant School, while some come from local infant schools or due to relocation. Although not on the same site, liaison between the two schools is given a high priority, and regular meetings and a valued transition programme are held to ensure continuity of education.
The children at Merdon feed into two secondary schools, both of which are within close proximity. The schools, Thornden (Arts Status School) and Toynbee (Sports Status School), both have excellent reputations. Some of our children also choose to attend Kings School, based in Winchester or Crestwood, situated over two campuses within Eastleigh.
