Creative Curriculum

Today had a visit from Dr Neil Gostling.  Neil is an evolutionary-developmental biologist (Evo-Devo) by training and a palaeontologist by research. He uses innovative methods to answer questions from the evolution of animals to the development of root systems. Neil will contribute to the teaching of evolution and development across the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences.

Dr Gostling talked to the children about his work. They then extracted DNA from strawberries.

House Crests

This year we are hoping to come up with designs for crests to represent our school houses, Merdon, Rufus, Tyrrell and Purkess.

First we heard the story of William II (King Rufus) and how his death in the New Forest linked to our house names.

We then thought about images that could be used on our crests to represent the different  houses.
