By the end of their time at Merdon out pupils will understand the importance of design and technology on our ever changing technological world. 

All of our children will be innovative individuals who have experienced designing, making and evaluating products that solve real life and relevant problems. They will learn how to test, critique and adapt their products accordingly to meet the needs and wants of the user.

Pupils will feel confident to take risks drawing upon a range of disciplines including science, computing, maths and art; and use their creativity to create functional and appealing products. 

They will develop their skills in using and choosing a range of tools to perform tasks accurately. When pupil leave Merdon they will understand where their food comes from, grow their own produce, as well as design and make a balanced meal as a life skill, enabling them to feed themselves and others.
