English
This half term we are continuing with our text 'Shackleton's Journey'. The children have chosen one of the actual crew and will be writing different texts from their perspective.
Following on from reading ‘The Inchcape Rock’ the children have been working on writing their own ballad to tell the story of what happened to the bell after it was sunk by Sir Ralph the Rover!
The Inchape Rock
We have been reading the poem ‘The Inchcape Rock’ by Robert Southey. We adapted the poem to include a repeated chorus between each verse, based on the sea shanty ‘The Wellerman’. The children then performed the whole poem, using musical instruments to add effects.
The children have been writing diary extracts as one of the crew from Endurance. Today they began publishing their work, using tea stained paper to make it look old.
