How can we make an earthquake proof structure?
Working in groups of four, we were asked to design an earthquake proof building. We were told which resources we would be allowed to use and given some rules for our designs. After discussing and making notes about our initial thoughts, designed our structures and annotated the reasoning behind our designs.
Following this we built and tested our designs using a very expensive and our of a kind, state of the art ‘Earthquake Simulator’ (also known as jelly)!
Year 6 will be returning to this activity later in the topic.
