We started the half term by finishing off capacity unit. 

Next, we moved onto focusing on applying our multiplication and division skills to larger numbers, using formal written methods. 

We started by revising how to distribute multiplication calculations to help us to solve them. For example: 

17 x 8 = (10 x 8) + (7 x 8) 

Our next step was to record our workings using column method as a formal written method. We multiplied 2 digits by 1 digit numbers and 3 digits by 1 digit numbers. 

We then moved on to division of 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. As we progressed through our learning we learned to how to exchange and deal with remainders. Finally, we applied our knowledge when tackling multiple step word problems.
