This half term we are starting with a unit on decimals and percentages.
Exploring fractions, decimals and percentages.
This morning the children were exploring equivalence between fractions, decimals and percentages by seeing if they could match up cards showing different amounts.
Percentages
Today we were exploring percentages. The children were able to recognise the percent symbol and we discussed that it means ‘out of one hundred’.
The next challenge was to look at a table of the highest penalty scorers from the Premier League. The children were asked to decide, using the information, who was the top scorer and explain how they knew! Then they were asked to try to match the percentages to the scorers.
