Measuring Perimeter
This week, during our unplugged lessons, we have been measuring perimeters in the classroom and also outside. We have learnt how to use measuring tapes and trundle wheels to measure in metres and rulers to measure smaller items in centimetres.
Learning Subtraction Methods
This week, we have been learning to subtract 4 digit numbers. We started by using place value counters so that we could see what happens to the numbers as we subtract. We then drew pictures of the counters as a way of recording. When we were ready, we then subtracted using the abstract method of column subtraction. We learnt how to exchange counters when there are not enough in a column to take away.
