Music
It is our intent that by the end of Key Stage 2, the children at Merdon Junior School will have developed a life-long love and enthusiasm for enjoying, making and performing music. They will have experienced a rich variety of music of different styles, cultures and times, and will have developed a curious and critical mind when learning about and responding to music.
All our children will have the opportunity to explore and play a musical instrument, building their self-awareness and self esteem as well as their resilience when persevering with new skills.
The children at Merdon will have had regular opportunities to create music and perform collaboratively or on their own, not only as part of the music curriculum but also through enrichment activities such as choir, orchestra, music/singing assemblies and instrumental lessons.
Throughout their time at Merdon, all children will learn singing skills including warm ups, breathing techniques and singing in parts, rounds and groups.
