Poetry - A child’s thought
A Child’s Thought
This week the children have been studying and imitating the work of Robert Lewis Stevenson about a child’s thought. This poem is about a dreamland vs reality of life. Across the week we have widened our vocabulary thinking about: verbs, nouns, adverbs, adjectives, thoughts, feelings and 5 senses to create poems with imagery and meaning. To start with we imitated the poet using the image given and then created our own based on a new dreamworld and the reality of life that is happening in the world around us such as: lockdown, coronavirus, black lives matter, deforestation, politics, technology, climate change, protests, war, fires amongst others. All ideas were from the children. It was a great week of creativity and poetry from Year 5!
