What do we already know about solids, liquids and gases?
We had a selection of different materials and sorted them.
We worked as a team to present our ideas.
Are all liquids the same?
We designed and carried out a test to see if all liquids are the same. We discovered that liquids have a different viscosity so they flowed down the slopes at different speeds.
How can we turn a solid to a liquid?
We started our learning by making careful observations, measuring and recording the temperatures of four different cups of water.
We then explored how we could plan an experiment to find out which material would melt the easiest. We were thinking about white chocolate, marshmallows, butter, dark chocolate and bread. We had to predict what would happen if we placed each item on a hot water bottle. Then we carried out the test and watched what happened!
