What is the history of space travel?

The children were asked to sequence a series of pictures that all related to different events in the history of space travel. They then used these to create their own timelines to represent their knowledge.

Why do we have night and day?

Today we explored how we have night and day on Earth.  The children used tennis balls and torches to represent the Earth and the sun.

What sizes are the different planets?

Today we looked at the size of the different planets in relation to each other. We then used a compass to draw the planets to scale. This involved learning about diameter and radius of a circle! Here are the results.

Was the Apollo 11 Moon landing real or fake?

Today we launched our new topic -Space- with a whole day dedicated to learning about the Moon. We started by learning all about the Moon landings in 1969. We watched videos and listened to recordings made of the landing. We then collected evidence from the Moon landing timeS, using the evidence to help us to draw a conclusion about whether the landing was real or faked!
