We have been looking closely at rocks and thinking about the best words to describe them.  We used our observation skills to help us make careful drawings.

We learnt that Geologists study rocks and found out about the different layers that make up the Earth.

We learnt about different types of rocks, what they look like and how they are formed.

We used chocolate to help us understand how different types of rocks are formed.

We looked closely at some rock to see what they had in common.  We noticed they all contained different fossils.

We watched a video to help us learn how fossils were made and then tried to explain the process in our own words.  Picture clues helped us.

We became petrologists and tested rocks.  We set up our scientific enquiry and thought about what we would do and what we would need to measure.  We tested to see which kind of rocks were the hardest.

Are all soils the same?

We collected soil from 3 different locations in the school grounds to help us answer this question.  We looked really closely to see what each soil contained.  What is soil made of?
