The Story of King Rufus
In their History lesson the children revisited the story of Willian II, known as King Rufus. They discussed how sometimes historical events have different versions and why.
They went to the copse and listened to the story and the different theories around what actually happened to King Rufus.
We talked about the New Forest and how it was a royal hunting ground.
In the time of King Rufus the royal parties hunted with bows and arrows. As we planned to freeze frame the events of the fateful day we made bows and collect arrows.
The children freeze framed the events and then we got to fire their arrows into the copse.
