Wednesday 8th December - X-Country county qualifier 

On Wednesday we took a team of 10 pupils from year 4 and 10 pupils from year 6 to compete in a X-country competition held at Fleming Park. The event was attended by many schools from across the Winchester and Eastleigh area so the competition was tough. As was the ground due to heavy rain the previous day!

Despite the conditions and competition we came away with some fantastic results and all our runners did Merdon proud!

Some race highlights:

Year 4 boys' race - 5th place for Jaxon R

Year 4 girls' race - 3rd place for Rose 

Year 6 boys' race - 7th place for Ollie T

Year 6 girls' race - 9th pace for Katherine K

Thursday 9th December - level 2 Basketball tournament

On Thursday we took a team of 8 pupils from year 6 to compete in a Basketball tournament at Thornden. The team won their pool, beating both Hiltingbury and Fryern which took them through to the final against Knightwood. The final was tense with knightwood taking an early lead but Merdon fought hard and scored a goal just before half time. The second half remained a draw until the last minute where Knightwood snuck the win.

Despite narrowly missing out in a place at the county games the team held their heads high and did us proud!
