After we read part of the story of Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion, we created an S plan of the Lion’s plan together.
Skills we have been working on this week are..
- using capital letters and full stops
- expanded noun phrases

We added ideas to our S plan for Little Red’s plan.
We used the skills we have been working on and the ideas on our S plans to help us with our writing.
We have been reading the book, How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth and learning how to write instructions.
We did some drama to help us think of the instructions we needed.
We worked really hard on our plans to help us with our writing.
We tried really hard with our written instructions.
Poetry Week
We thought about what the word REFUGE meant. We learnt our refuge might be a special place, person or object. Pretending to be an animal, we looked for places outside that might be our refuge. In our poems, we wrote about the things we would see, hear, taste, smell and feel in our refuge.
We have read the book Blue Penguin, unpicked the story and themes, built our vocabulary and worked on writing compound sentences.
We worked on our sentences structures, writing simple, compound and complex sentences. Then we looked closely at how to punctuate speech before giving it a go.
We finished the half term by applying our skills when retelling the story of Blue Penguin. We tried to use the new words we had learnt, include speech and show how our main character was feeling at different parts of the story.
