What are the features of our local area?

Our new topic is Geography led. We started today by defining what geography is. We played a racing game to help us to get to know how to use an atlas correctly and we learnt some geographical terms such as country and continent. Our topic is Europe, so we looked more closely at this area of the atlas. 

We will be comparing our local area eight other towns in various places in Europe with a view to choosing an appropriate twin town for Chandler’s Ford. Today we started to explore some of the features of our local area. The children drew maps in the playground in groups to show what they already know.
