How can I accurately draw large circles? An investigation.
After completing an EMA based on the properties and vocabulary related to circles, we were posed the question - If you were asked to ACCURATELY draw a circle with a radius of 1 metre on the playground - what would you do? How could you find the circumference?
We had 10 minutes to independently think about it, then joined together I. Groups of three. After collecting the equipment we attempted to draw circles with a radius of 1 metre (then 50cm, 25cm and 2 metres). In addition to find the circumference of each of the circles and record our results.
Finally we write up our investigation and analysed the results to find patterns.
