By the of KS2 our intent is for children to achieve the aims of the National Curriculum, fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills, through carefully planned sequences of lessons.

Maths lessons will, where possible, have purposeful links to real life contexts where children apply their knowledge and understanding. These opportunities will ensure children can deepen their understanding of mathematics.

Children will have conceptual understanding, recognise and recall number facts and patterns, applying them both rapidly and accurately.

Children at Merdon will have opportunities to demonstrate ‘mastery’ through well planned, imaginative and simulating cross-curricular lessons including Let's Think in Maths lessons.

Through Maths lessons the children will have a greater understanding of Sustainability Goals and how they relate to their lives both now and in the future.
