At Merdon, we want to develop children’s ability to understand, value and respect the faiths, cultures and beliefs of others. This is why we hold our annual RE Week. We want our children to have some knowledge of each faith so that they feel equipped to talk to others about such matters with confidence.
Each year group studies a different faith for the week. They learn the basic principles of that faith, festivals and customs that are held and they also visit the place of worship. The children get the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues within a framework of mutual respect and tolerance for all.
